I am really the worst blogger ever but I know that people really only want to see pictures so here you go.. July pretty much consisted of working and weekend trips to the beach. Other highlights included..
1. Receiving Season tickets to Alabama Football after 4 years of being on the waiting list.
2. Closing on 2 houses and getting an accepted offer on another!!
3. Jody's 10 year reunion
4. Spending some time with my niece and nephew.
4. Listed a big project in Mobile called Somerby. Great community for the 55 and older crowd. Please keep in mind for anyone wanting to downsize to a Garden Home. I have 13 lots with plans ready to go and one completed house.

Miami

Last week I joined my parents on a trip to Miami Beach. My dad had classes every day, all day long so I got to keep my mom company. They invited Jody but June is a really busy month for him so he decided to stay home. We flew out of Pensacola and the flight was less than 1 1/2 hours. So, if you ever want a quick getaway you should look into Miami. We stayed at The Fontainbleau which is a fabulous hotel. Our room was on the top floor and we had great views of the beach and the bay. We didn't really do any touristy things, but we did get plenty of sunning and shopping accomplished. I missed not getting to enjoy the trip with Jody but hopefully we will be able to go somewhere soon on our own! Before I left, I had buyers that wrote an offer and a house and it was accepted. Yay! It was time to relax and not think about work for a few days, except...The lender at Regions called and said she wouldn't be able to do the loan because there was a new rule that doesn't allow buyers to get a loan on foreclosures with a right of redemtion... Not only is this bad news for my buyer's but terrible news for all these foreclosures that will continue to sit on the market. Foreclosures are a huge part of our business and if we cant sell them things are going to get bad. Anyway, as of yesterday Regions can do the loan, but somehow they cant promise they will do it forever. So, that is what I am dealing with this week. If you know of anyone buying a foreclosure, please give them this warning.

I am so excited about a house I listed yesterday. It has everything a family could want and it is only $229,000!! Here is the visual tour and pass on to anyone you know looking in the semi-West Mobile but still close in area! My plans for the weekend...

- Work- not too much but just enough
- Wedding showers and a Wedding- I am about bankrupt from the 2100 presents I have bought lately for babies, weddings, showers, etc, but in all seriousness, I love going to these things SO keep on inviting me!
- Church- A definite
- Exercise???
- Icecream- The only choice here is mint choc chip or a Marble slab creataion...
- Laying out on our deck and relaxing

A month behind...

It has definitely been a while since I last posted and for good reason. I have been super busy and have not had time do anything except for work, eat, and sleep. I still don't feel like writing a long entry on what all has been going on so I will do a top 10 highlights for the month of April. As you can tell, I like things short and to the point.

1. Sold my former preachers house after a grueling week long stress fest. 2 days before we were supposed to close, an ice maker line was left on and water ran into the dining room, foyer, and family room. An inspector discovered it within an hour of it happening, but both the buyer and seller were out of town so I was left to make all the urgent decisions as to what to do. I don't do well in these kind of situations, but I guess each time something like this happens I learn from it. Anyway, I ended up getting Servpro out there to dry out the floors and restore them. It took about 5 days of phone calls, inspectors, and addendum's before we could finally satisfy the out of town buyers. I was a nervous wreck thinking that whole deal was going to fall apart, but it didn't. Lesson Learned- I will work hard to sell houses but some things are out of my control and I just have to trust and pray that whatever is meant to be will happen. (This is when I stopped blogging, eating, and sleeping, and if I talked to you this week, I probably don't remember)

2. Mullet toss 2010. Fun weekend but don't feel like going into details and I don't have any pictures. Story of my life.

3. Got my hair cut shorter and still trying to figure out color. Any suggestions on a good salon are appreciated. I like my lady but am ready for a change.

4. Got an accepted contract on a house I have had listed since August. We finally dropped the price and within a week we had an offer. It should close this week and so far no problems!

5. Had a deck built on the back of our house and finally bought patio furniture. The guy who built it did it in about 8 hours and it was so inexpensive. He is the best handyman ever. He does electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and much more. Let me know if you are looking for someone. The patio furniture ended up being $50 brand new from Wal-Mart. It isn't anything to write home about, but we are enjoying it.

6. Started a new game plan for real estate where I am really prospecting and looking for new business. It involves contacting 10 people and day and saying, "Do you know of anyone looking to buy or sell in the next 6 months, If so, do you mind giving me their name and number so I can call them?" So, if I haven't called you already, just wait, it is only a matter of time! Or, if you want to take the next step and go ahead and email me their name and avoid my call, that will work too!

7. Brought a whole bunch of clothes to two local consignment shops in Mobile. This only made my top 10 because I want people to know that these are the best places to shop. I probably go there at least once a week and buy something and use my store credit.

8. Spent alot of time advertising an event that I am co-chairing on May 13th. It is at the Wine Loft and I will attach the flyer. Please try to attend if you don't have anything going on this Thursday. It should be a great time!

9. Completely stopped exercising and trying to eat healthy. This shouldn't be a highlight but I really did enjoy eating cookies and ice cream at least 3 times a week. It lasted for about 4 weeks and fortunately I am now back on track.

10. Took my nephew to the park by our house several afternoons when I got finished with work early. He is at such a fun age and I love living so close to them.

Arts Alive

MOBILE'S PREMIER PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL
Arts Alive! Mobile’s downtown Arts Festival continues to make “art happen” once again this Spring. Scheduled for April 9, 10, and 11, the festival offers three days of varied artistic experiences and interactive and hands-on activities.

The hallmark of Arts Alive! since inception has been it’s multi-dimensional arts platform. Each festival showcases a wide selection of art genres – theater, film, visual, music, dance – all featuring local and regional talent.

Festival Chair, David Calametti explains: “Our overall goal is create personal artistic experiences for everyone who comes out. We want to de-mystify art and stir the muse within each of us.”

Arts Alive! takes place in the Cathedral Square Arts District in downtown Mobile. Festival hours are Friday, 5-9:30pm; Saturday 2-9pm and Sunday Noon-6pm. Admission is free for the entire festival.

I will be there at the Dauphin Realty booth on Saturday and there will be several downtown condo's and loft's being held open. There are some really unique properties and it fun to see what they have done with some of the older buildings. So...if you don't have anything else going on. come visit!!

Destin

This past weekend, Jody and I went to Destin for his third cousins wedding. We stayed at the Emerald Grand which is the first large complex over the bridge, next to AJ's and Harbor Docks. It was pretty the whole time and it made me wish summer would hurry up and get here. All of his relatives were there and it was so nice to spend time with everyone. We stayed in a condo with his parents and his brother and wife, and their two babies. I thought I was getting ready for children, but after that, I'm not so sure. They are really good babies but it is just constant action!!!! You can't go anywhere fast and you are worn out by the end of the day. Maybe I am just selfish, but do any of you other single people feel this way after you spend time with your friends or realtives children?? This sounds awful. They really are great babies, I'm just not used to being aorund children. Anyway, the weekend was fun and I absoultely love Destin!

Pardon my wind blown hair. We walked to the bridesmaid's luncheon and the winds were awesome!! That is my mother-in-law next to me and sister-in-law on the end.

I am a posting like crazy today. I have to get it all in when I have free time which I wish was more often. I guess this means I am busy which is good! Anyway, look at the Visual Tour of this great home in Springhill. I think it would be perfect for a young family with children or someone older looking to downsize. Really, there is something for everyone and could truly be perfect for any family. There are 4 bedrooms and 3, yes 3 bathrooms. There is a true master suite with a huge closet, and a master bath. Everyone who has seen it loves the private, large, fenced in yard and the patio. You really can't find a single story brick home in Springhill that is this updated and perfect. Please share with anyone you know who might be looking!! It has been shown several times already and I am doing a Realtor open house on it in a few weeks which will help advertise it to the other agents. Speaking of Realtor Open House, this is one of the best parts of Real Estate. This is how it works. Several companies get together and each one holds open one of their listings. We try to keep them in the same area so there is not too much driving required. It is on a weekday at lunchtime and is pretty much a progressive lunch. There are usually no more than 5 or 6 houses. Each Realtor makes something and chips in money to go toward a drawing. We invite all the Realtors in Mobile and at each house they bring their card and have it signed to put in a drawing. They must see every home and leave their card at the last house for a chance to win anywhere from $75.00 to $125.00. I have sold several listings this way by having an agent from another company see the house and call their buyer about it! It is also nice to attend these every week and load up on great food and have the chance to win money. If you have ever considered becoming a Realtor, this is just one of the many perks!!

Vegas Vacation

This is really late but I had to post. My mom and I went to Las Vegas three weeks ago on a random trip. We were sitting at lunch one day and decided that it was time to go somewhere. The weather in Mobile was gloomy and we were ready to get away to a warm place. We planned it and went on the trip all within a 2 week span. It is always so hard for me to leave the Real Estate world. I hate missing work and I might be a little addicted to email and my phone, but I really needed a break. Hotels are so reasonable out there right now and we both had free plane tickets from our sky miles, so why not?? Even though I don't gamble, Vegas is one of my most favorite places to visit. We shopped, toured all the fabulous hotels, went to see Lion King, saw a Variety show, went to the pool, need I say more!!! I am pretty simple to please, just give me sun, shopping, and good food and I am pretty content. We pretty much avoided the night scene so we wouldn't have to deal with all the crazy men giving out card's on the street. If you have ever been, you know what I mean. If you haven't ever been, Go!!! (And try to avoid walking on the streets at night) All in all, the trip was pretty fantastic. We only had one small mishap the whole time. When we first got to the the hotel, we began to unpack our one and only checked bag only to discover we had the wrong bag!!!! We couldn't believe it.... We were so ready to throw on our warm weather clothes and hit the streets but no. Anyway, a few phone calls and $40 in cab fares later, we were back at the airport picking up our bag and returning the other. Lesson Learned--Always check your luggage tag before you leave the airport. Enjoy the pictures and go on a vacation!!

I listed the cutest house in midtown on Bruister St. It is in between Catherine and Macy Pl. The price is 169,900 and they are willing to leave almost all of their awesome furniture. It would be a great first home for anyone so pass it on. It has been well maintained and updated and who wouldn't want to buy a house that came with great furniture?? You will probably see in the newspaper if you live in Mobile and and get the paper but I sold this house last week. It was my best sale yet and I am so excited for the people who bought this home. They got a really good deal. All my clients get good deals but this was GREAT. It was a foreclosure and needed alot of work so it will be exciting to see what they do to it. It had huge rooms and almost 6000 square feet with a great backyard. I wish I had a picture but the Master bedroom closet was the size of my bedroom with great built-In's. The kitchen had 2 sub-zero refrigerator's and a large freezer. The stove/oven was one of those commercial grade ones that was almost 5 feet long. It really is just a great home. Zutano Baby Clothes

I am not a mom so I don't know alot about baby clothes but I do know we used to sell this brand at Ivy Cottage and it was rather pricy. Anyway, I took my weekly trip to Hudsons yesterday to discover that they had tons of this stuff. I decided to buy a few outfits for my niece and nephew. I got all of this stuff for 23.00 which I thought was pretty good. They don't have big sizes, mainly 18 months and youunger. If you have babies, you need to head out there before it is all gone!

New Orleans

This past weekend Jody and I went to New Orleans for a last minute Valentine's Day getaway. It just so happened that it was Mardi Gras too. I can now say I have been there done that and will never have to go back for Mardi Gras. We stayed at a great little hotel in the French Quarter (Hotel Provinical)that was walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. We ate beignets, jambalaya, and every other local favorite! We really wanted to do some shopping and go in the furniture stores but most everything was closed. So, instead we decided to spend most of the time people watching. I could have done that for hours!! Wow.. is it very different compared to Mobile Mardi Gras. There are just so many more people and the costumes were out of control. It is always so hard to come back to work after a vacation but this week I will close a house on Friday so I can't complain. Things are really picking up in real estate and I absolutely love it! If anyone reads this and is considering a new career, call me!! You can't beat the hours and the flexibility. See ya.

Sign Calls

Sign calls are one of the most exciting and yet frustrating parts of real estate for me. Let me explain 2 examples from this week. I have a house listed and it is in a neighborhood that has a school and lots of traffic. I constantly get calls from people inquiring about it and on occasion they decide that it sounds like something they would like to see. Great!!!! I potentially pick up a buyer and sell my own listing or if they don't like it maybe I sell them something else. My hopes are high!! So, I print out a bunch of houses to show them in case they don't like this one, hurry out there, and wait..... and wait longer.... They don't show up. Typical. I don't understand it and never will but it happens all the time. Second situation of the week. Same story except these people show up. They love the house, don't have an agent, and need to move before the end of March. Perfect. We decide to meet again on Sunday and look at a few more before they make a final decision. We exchange numbers and email address's. I just know these people are the real deal. 3 days have gone by and they won't answer my phone calls or email. Why?????? I don't know and I never will. I don't put pressure on people and I give them the option to say, "We are working with someone else or we aren't ready yet." Why do they have to lead me one. Oh, well I used to worry about it but now I get over it pretty quickly, although this post does make me sound like I'm not over it... It is just strange and I would never consider being that sketchy. All I want is honesty people, just honesty!!!

If anyone goes to Dauphin Way they know that the Pastor Clint Pressley is moving :( We are all so sad because he was awesome and truly the main reason many people joined Dauphin Way these past several years. He is such a Godly man and his family is so sweet. Anyway, they are are moving to North Carolina and I just listed his house. It has been fun going out there and getting to know his family on a more personal level. They have a great home and I know they will hate to leave it. I spent Monday measuring it and taking pictures. After we spent about an hour getting every picture perfect I went home, downloaded them and realized there was a smudge on the lens. Awesome.... Natalie, I may just have to hire you to take all my pictures. Anyway, check out this huge yard. I told them they might have to leave the riding lawn mower as an incentive!!!!

Jeans

This has nothing to do with real estate but I told you this was going to be a little bit business a little bit personal. I was just wondering if any of your husbands, boyfriends, male friends wear designer jeans. It doesn't even have to be designer, just something a little darker and nicer than Levi's or Wranglers. My husband does not wear them and refuses to even consider that they might look good. I don't know what the deal is with most men in the South not catching on to this trend. I was able to get Jody to try a pair on at Hudsons the other day. ( There are still a bunch there and they are really cheap) There weren't any funny pockets, holes, weird stains, or awkward tight places. They looked 100 times better than his Levi's. I complimented him and told him how good he looked but he laughed and said he would never wear them. Oh well =( Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem. Or, if your significant other does wear them, how did you ever talk them into it? Maybe I should just give up and be thankful I have a manly husband who is not concerned with what is fashionable. He could dress better than me and that would not be good......

I have decided to give this blogging thing one more try. Last time I tried to write about family and it seemed that we weren't interesting enough to write about. This go round, I am going to try to write a little about real estate and personal happenings. If I have a purpose, it might make it a little more interesting. For those of you who are only interested in my personal life, you might be bored. So, that being said, let's get started! So, my interesting story of the week is about an Open House I did several weeks ago. Let this serve as a warning to any other Realtors who read this. I show up to the house at 2 and am excited and ready to meet some new clients. Several people come by and give me their name and act like they will call me back, they don't... I can always tell when they are just out enjoying their Sunday afternoon. That doesn't bother me but don't try to act like you might be interested. Ok, I got sidetracked. So.. 3:30 rolls around and this strange man comes in. Holes in his pants, no shoelaces, unwashed hair, and just an odd look on his face. Basically, he doesn't even look at the house and he talks for 30 minutes calling me inappropriate names the whole time. I try to get outside several times and I eventually get my husband on the phone. I make up a stupid excuse to walk outside and then realize he has my car blocked in the driveway and my keys are inside. Stupid! He sits in there a little while longer and eventually walks out the back door. He tried to get me to walk back there with him to lock the back door but I refuse. I'm shaking and debating just running down the street but somewhere in my mind I am thinking what if he is a real buyer. I don't want to offend him or seem rude. Stupid again! Anyway, I finally just tell him I have to go home to a sick child and he ends up leaving. So, this is not to make anyone feel sorry for me. It is more of a wake up call for Realtors to be more aware of their surroundings.

Jody and I went to Disney World last week and his parents came with us. We had a wonderful time and I think I could go back every year! So, if anyone wants to join us next year just let us know. Jody even had a good time! The last time he went he was 11 and he didn't remember anything so that was exciting to see him on all the rides! We went to the Majic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and the Animal planet. I reccomend this vacation to anyone who hasn't been lately.

So, it has been a long time since I posted. Sorry everyone. I don't really have anything too interesting to write about except that my sister-in-law Gretchen Crane is supposed to have her baby tomorrow morning so keep her in your prayer's. We are sooo excited and can't wait to meet J.B. This past week Jody and I were in Tuscaloosa. He worked and I just relaxed. Thursday we woke up and drove to Lake Weiss where my aunt and uncle have a house. (I will post pictures later) We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with my mom's side of the family and then we drove back to Tuscaloosa for dinner with Jody's side of the family, Needless to say, we were stuffed. Friday, we drove to Birmingham where Jody played golf with my dad and brother at Ross Bridges and my mom and I shopped. I thought we were crazy for shopping on Black Friday but it really was not crowded at all. Friday night we went to dinner with the Murphy's, Roe's,and Weingardt's at Hot and Hot Fish. It was an awesome dinner and we laughed the entire meal. It is always fun to hang out with Katie J, Michael, and Patrick! We ended up spending the night at Katie's after a long night. Saturday we drove back to Tuscaloosa for the game. The weather wasn't the best but we had a great time tailgating with Erin and Ben and then watching the game. Sunday, we finally drove home after a long week of traveling. I was so glad to see my bed! Hope everyone is doing well!

Home Alone!

This past Thursday Jody left to go fish in a tournament at Lake Guntersville so I decided to make the best of it and enjoy some time by myself. Well, except for the fact that I was with my parents! There wasn't much to do at work so I packed up and went to the beach Thursday afternoon with them. We had a great time shopping, eating great meals, and just catching up. I love spending time with them and the conversation is never dull. Thanks Mom for entertaining me!! Saturday we came home and I went to house sit for a family. Actually, it is their dog that I watch but it is still nice getting out of our house for a little while and watching Tess the dog. She makes me want to have a dog for about an hour and then I remember that Jody and I like to go/travel too much and we don't need that responsibility. Maybe later after children!! Saturday night I went with Jason and Gretchen (Jody's brother and his wife) to the Reed Ave Street party. It was a good time and the food was awesome. Thanks for letting me tag along Gretchen! Finally, Jody got back into town last night and I was glad to see him because three nights by myself is too much. Today we just did the typical Church thing and then I worked this afternoon. Boo for work on Sunday's, but I certainly don't forget how lucky and blessed I am to have have a job in this economy. Anyway, this week should be full of work and then we will head to T-town on Thursday to visit his family and have a shower for Gretchen. Have a great week everyone!

Newly Wed Game

Last night(Saturday), Jody and I went to a Sunday school party where we all brought a dish and then played the newly wed game. It was so much fun and we all learned a little bit about our spouse that we never knew before. Some learned more than they wanted to know, like what they did that embarrassed their wife the most, etc.. Luckily, Jody was nice and said that I didn't do anything. However, one girl said that her husband picked his nose and flicked it. Gross but funny! Anyway, you get the point. If you are in any kind of Sunday school or even a Supper Club, this is a great idea for a party. We were all laughing so hard and all agreed that we must make this a regular event.

Friday Night Out!

Friday night, we went to eat with Erin and Ben at Bonefish and it was delicious. When we arrived, who do we see but Stephen and Natalie! So, we all ate dinner and then decided to go to the Wine Loft and visit some more. It was nice catching up with everyone and I think we need to do this at least once a month. Too bad we didn't get a picture of the whole group. Oh well, maybe next time.

Not- Me the past three days!

This posts is something that a fellow blogger started about things that were "Not me" It is cute so I think I will try it based on my past few days.

It was not me who had a client fall thru yesterday due to fraud and forging her W-2's. No, I wouldn't waste time with anyone that I had a gut instinct was sketchy and turned out to be a criminal- Not me

It was not me who made lunch yesterday at home and then received a phone call and forgot to eat. It also was not me who never even realized I forgot to eat until my husband spotted the food last night around 7:00. Not me.

It was not me who for the past week has been averaging over 36 received calls a day and over 60 dialed calls a day with my phone usually dying around 3:00, not me and this does not include the missed calls.

It was not me who who volunteered myself and my husband to house sit for someone this weekend without asking him first- Not me

And finally, it was not me who drove home from work today to the wrong house- (My parent's house") and this was not the 3rd or 4th time for me to do this.

As you can see, it is not me who is really busy with work and needs a break or some sort of vacation! Not me!!

Weekend

Wow am I glad to be sitting on the couch relaxing! Jody and I had a busy yet productive weekend. Friday night we went to dinner with my parents at the Mexican restaurant on Schillinger. I can't remember the name but I love that place. Saturday we woke up and Jody went to the flea market and to hit some golf balls. I started showing houses at 11 and did not get home until 5:30. That wasn't what I planned for my Saturday but God definitely had a different plan and of course it was better than what I had in mind. I ended up writing an offer on a house that I'm 99% sure will work out. This customer was someone who called off of a magazine ad and I had never even met her until yesterday. Saturday night after my busy day we were able to relax for a little while and watch the Alabama game. Too bad I fell asleep at 9. Oh well!. Today, we went to Sunday School and church and had a great lesson. Side note- We love Dauphin Way Baptist and we really feel that is helping us grow in our faith. and we are making relationships with some great people. Ok, so after church I went to my open house from 2-4 and then went to show houses once again. Well, I ended up writing another offer that I will hear back on tomorrow. These clients were also a couple that I had never met before until today. All the meanwhile, Jody is showing my car to potential buyers and he actually ended up selling it for a great price. So, we are worn out but pleased with the weekend. He is making a Mexican chicken casserole right now while I answer emails. What a wonderful husband! I hope whoever is reading this had a great weekend as well!

Weekend

This weekend Jody and I went to Tuscaloosa for the football game and to visit with his family. We arrived on Thursday and went to eat Mexican with his parents. Friday, Jody worked at RBC in Tuscaloosa while I got a pedicure and shopped! Jody wanted to add that he went fishing with his dad late that afternoon and caught a 4lb fish. He says if I am going to blog that I have to let people know about his fishing. Friday night his mom made a great meal as always. Saurday, we woke up and headed to town to tailgate with some friends of Jody's (Scott and Jill Parrott). We spent all day in the quad and had a great day visiting with friends. Erin and Ben, we missed you! The game was not too interesting but at least we were able to be there in the stands. Sunday, we went to Jody's grandmothers for the famous Sunday lunch. I am not lying when I say there were 7 different vegetables, two meats, and three desserts. Needless to say, we were falling asleep on our drive home. Now, we are back to the regular work week and things are going well. We will go to church tomorrow night and look foward to another football Saturday!

Alright, after months of stalking all of my friend's blogs I decided to start one of my own. Jody is going to be so against this because he hates everyone knowing what is going on, but I know he will get used to it. We don't have any pets or babies yet so it might be somewhat boring but at least our family and friends will be able to keep up with us. Thanks for reading and wish me luck!
